Rodaro Merlot DOP Friuli Colli Orientali 2022 is a dry Italian red wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia, produced by Rodaro Paolo Winery in Cividale del Friuli. Made from 100% Merlot, it is full-bodied, generous and elegant, with ripe berry fruit, toasty oak, dried plum, raspberry, redcurrant, blueberry and a refined finish. This Merlot comes from the Friuli Colli Orientali area, one of the respected wine zones of north-eastern Italy. The wine combines ripe fruit, structure, smoothness and warmth, making it suitable for restaurants, wine bars, hotels and private clients looking for a premium Italian red wine in Malta.
 
Tasting Profile:
Rodaro Merlot shows an intense ruby colour with hints of light purple. On the nose, it opens with smooth toasty oak, followed by well-ripened berry fruit, sour cherry liqueur, raspberry, dried plum marmalade, redcurrant and blueberry. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, with rich fruit, roasted nuts, dried fruit and a lightly pleasant bitter finish.
 
Food Pairing:
This Merlot is highly versatile with food. It pairs well with medium-aged and young fatty cheeses, pork dishes, rabbit and hare. It is also a strong choice for Mediterranean meat dishes, premium casual dining and restaurant wine lists.
